ETHICAL POLICY STATEMENT

We have developed this Ethical Trading and Social Accountability document which has been designed using the Base Code of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI).

It is the aim of the company to meet our customer expectations by acting responsibly in all our corporate and commercial activities. To do this, we aim to develop, maintain and implement procedures to assess and improve on social standards.

It is our policy that we ensure compliance with the provisions of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This requires ensuring that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any part of our business and in any of our supply chains. Should a risk of human slavery or human trafficking be identified within a supply chain the necessary actions to maintain compliance will be taken in line with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Employment is freely chosen all employees at Jack Taylor are working of their own free will, all have written and signed contracts of employment and have read their terms and conditions of employment at Jack Taylor. A contract of employment is issued to each new employee of the company. Each individual contract of employment sets out the period of notice required to be worked and sets out the procedure for resignation and explains that employees can give notice and leave their jobs without losing the pay and benefits to which they are entitled.

Freedom and Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining are respected although there is not a trade union at Jack Taylor, all employees have the right to join or form one and to bargain collectively as part of the consultation process. Currently there is an internal team briefing system in place where the management meet with employees, and they are free to discuss any issues or concerns. Company employees are informed and consulted in a timely way about issues that affect their employment and the prospects of the business.

Child Labour

Jack Taylor do not employ anyone under the age of 16. All employees between the ages of 16 and 17 are not permitted to work any night shifts or under any conditions deemed hazardous and we will ensure all breaks are carried out in accordance with the World Trademark Review (WTR).

Living Wages

All employees are paid at least the national minimum wage. Each employee is issued with a Contract of Employment which sets the rate of pay for employment, the rate of voluntary overtime and any circumstances where deductions will made from wages. Each time the employee is paid, they receive a payslip which sets out their basic pay, overtime, bonuses and deductions. No deductions are made from wages without prior permission from the employee and none are made disciplinary issues. Written records are kept for all disciplinary measures.

Working Hours

All employees work within the rules of Working Time Regulations (1998) unless they have specifically chosen to opt out. Employees will not work more than 48 hours on average per week over 17- week period and employees will receive at least one day minimum 24 hours rest in every 7- day period.

Where employees have chosen to opt out of the WTR, occasional overtime may be offered which may exceed 60 hours in a 7-day period for specific purposes to satisfy unpredicted production peaks, accidents or emergencies. This overtime is considered voluntary, and we will ensure that each employee receives minimum 1 day (24 hours) off in any 7-day period and receives at least 11 hours break in between each shift. All overtime is paid at the premium rate.

Regular Employment

All work performed at the company is based on recognised employment relationships established through Scottish Law and Practice. All employees have written Contracts of employment and receive all benefits they are entitled to under Scottish Law. Social Security contributions are also paid at correct levels set by National Law.

No harsh or inhumane treatment is permitted at Jack Taylor there is no physical abuse or discipline, threat of physical abuse, sexual harassment, verbal abuse or other forms of intimidation permitted. Where any abuse is suspected to have occurred, employees will be investigated and dealt with.
